London 2012 Olympics
Olympics Countdown
It probably hasn’t escaped your
attention that the world Olympics is fast approaching, and gosh are
we excited!
The Olympic torch is doing the rounds, shops
are adorned with sporting memorabilia, and there are only a few
weeks left until our proud nation hosts the 2012 world
Olympics.
Get active
We’re forever flying the ‘get
active’ flag and The Olympics are a great reason to get staff off
their seats and on their feet. One way you can do this is
to launch an ‘active at work challenge’
in your workplace. Active at work challenges are great for
motivating staff to be active, they’re sociable and fun, and can
really boost workplace morale. And with The Olympics buzz hard to
beat, it’s the perfect time to encourage staff to get active.
Team sports
There are plenty of ways you
can encourage staff to get involved in their own workplace
Olympics. Here are just a few suggestions:
- A good old fashioned egg and
spoon race that’s sure to get the friendly banter going, or any
kind of race: relay, sack race and even the three legged race!
- Discuss using a
Frisbee!
- A dodge ball, table tennis
and 5-a-side football tournaments
- Penalty shoot-outs
- Pedometer challenges
You can divide departments into teams to get
everyone worki
ng together. If your organisation is smaller, what
about partnering up with staff from the office next door? Or what
about getting other local businesses involved? That’s what staff
from 22 Cornish companies did to create the first ever
Cornish Beach Games. Their case study is really inspiring, and
a great example of team building and how to get active and promote
heart healthy lives the fun way!
June is a sporting bonanza
The Olympics aren’t the only sporting
tournament taking place – Euro 2012 is in full swing so why not
join in with the team spirit and organise your own workplace
5-a-side football tournament? And if you’re looking for heart
healthy tips to pass on to your staff during the Euro, check out
