Launch event for activity dayHow to do it

There are many fun, simple and inexpensive physical activity initiatives you can offer at work.

You can provide information, offer opportunities to be active, or adjust the environment to help people be more active.

Launch event

Holding a physical activity launch event is an excellent way to promote new and existing initiatives at work.

It is also a good way to meet people from across the organisation and get their feedback and ideas for future activities.

Walking

Walking is good for the body and mind. You can walk at any time and anywhere. Why not encourage colleagues to walk more before, during and after work, as a free and easy way of building physical activity into their daily routine?

Cycling

Cycling helps people to feel healthier and fitter and can help to relieve stress too. Those who cycle to work often arrive feeling more alert and find that they're better able to leave their work behind at the end of the day.

Cycling can also save time and money in getting to work.

Activity classes

Activities such as yoga and dance are very popular in the workplace. They often last for an hour or less and can easily be organised to fit around the working day and be delivered on site or in a facility nearby.

Some people may prefer to have access to a leisure centre near by, so that they are free to use the facilities at a time that's convenient for them.

Sports and games

Sports and games can create a real buzz. They are sociable, fun and a great way to meet colleagues from other departments. The level at which people participate is not important. It is the involvement that counts.
