Welcome to the Cardio & Vascular Coalition
The CVC is a national coalition of 41 voluntary and professional organisations with an interest in promoting and protecting cardiac and vascular health in England.
The interests of the CVC membership cover cardiac and vascular and related conditions - heart disease, diabetes, stroke and kidney disease - from pre-birth to end of life care.
The National Service Framework (NSF) for Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) and other strategies for stroke, diabetes and kidney disease, have delivered dramatic progress in cardiac and vascular health. However, the 10-year work programme of the NSF for CHD is coming to a close in 2009/2010.
It is vital that the achievements realised to date are sustained and built upon. A new strategic approach for England is needed, covering the common elements of cardiac and vascular disease, which sets national standards for local implementation.
On 25 March 2009 the CVC launched Destination 2020: A plan for cardiac and vascular health, the voluntary sector vision for change.
Destination 2020 outlines the key principles that should guide a new strategic government approach to cardiac and vascular conditions.
